Pesto Puff Pastry Christmas Tree

We saw this pesto puff pastry tree served at a recent party – it’s easy to make and very tasty too!

Ingredients

2 x puff pastry circles

1 x jar good quality pesto

Optional: 1 oz finely grated cheddar or similar cheese

2 eggs whisked together

Method

1. Place one circle of puff pastry on a board and spread with pesto.
2. Add finely grated cheese if using.
3. Place the second circle of puff pasty on top.
4. Create a Christmas tree shape and score out the branches then twist (see video below courtesy of Demotivateur)
5. Beat the two eggs and paint over the tree.
6. Place on a baking sheet in the over at 180 degrees for 20 – 25 minutes.

You can also make a sweet version of this tree by using Nutella instead of pesto and you could sprinkle caster sugar over the top. Would work well with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
