The other day I was invited to lunch at Restaurant Triangel in Zumikon. The well known restaurant in Zumikon is now back to its original name after a short interval in different hands when it was known as Heimat 3. However, since Easter 2017 Restaurant Triangel has been run by Andy and Sandra Tobler-Wismer, together with a wonderful chef in the kitchen!

Their chef, Japanese-born Ken Nakano, has a great pedigree having worked for many years at the legendary Restaurant “Sein” in Zurich with Martin Surbeck – and his cooking is a delight!

After a warm welcome we were seated in the restaurant and chose from a very well priced lunch menu. The lunch menu is very seasonal and changes every week. There was a choice of 3 set menus, including a Vegetarian option. Each menu included a choice of either soup or salad as well as the main course and prices ranged from CHF 19 to CHF 29. The option of Moules marinières à la crème with Baguette could be taken as either a starter or a main course.

I began with the soup of the day which was simply delicious! It was just so velvety, creamy and full of flavour and beautifully seasoned! As someone who is not usually a big soup fan, this is praise indeed.

My companion had a mixed leaf salad which was crisp, fresh and beautifully presented and came with an option of dressings.

For the main course my companion had a bowl of Moules marinières à la crème with baguette which were again very flavoursome and I had the fish which was served on a bed of fresh vegetables. My fish was beautifully cooked and really tasty and again, perfectly seasoned. To accompany the lunch we had a glass of Chateau Le Grand Verdus blanc.

For dessert we chose coffee with a trio of small desserts – which is a great way of getting to taste three different small portions of dessert all at once! Each one was wonderful. 🙂 I pushed the boat out and went for the Tobelerone Parfait which was light and lovely.
