A Journey to Morocco at Restaurant Babel at The Circle Zurich Airport
Since it opened Restaurant Babel has become quite a hot spot for Middle Eastern and Moroccan cuisine in Zurich. The restaurant is located at the Hyatt Regency The Circle at Zurich Airport. It is easy to get there with a direct train from Zurich main station in as little as 9 minutes. Or you can of course drive there and there is plenty of parking at the airport. Once you arrive, simply follow the signs to the The Circle and the Hyatt Regency hotel.
Bar Iris at the Hyatt Regency The Circle Zurich Airport
We visited Restaurant Babel at the Hyatt Regency The Circle at Zurich Airport for dinner one evening and began with a visit to the beautiful Bar Iris for a drink.
The bar has a stunning centrepiece made out of slivers of semi precious stones and offers a great choice of cocktails. It was a hot summer evening so we asked the barman for some inspiration and he fixed us some really refreshing drinks before we headed to Restaurant Babel.

As you enter the restaurant you’re greeted with a mix of modern aesthetics with oriental touches. Oh and don’t miss the stunning Bing Bang art installation (picture below) as you are about to go in to Restaurant Babel.
There are embroidered cushions, and lots of Mid-Eastern decorations at Restaurant Babel and as well as an indoor dining area there is a lovely outdoor terrace.
Since it was a Summer’s evening we opted to sit outside on the terrace.
Chef Max Burkhalter’s Menu at Restaurant Babel
Executive Chef Max Burkhalter has worked for over 10 years in the Middle East and the menu reflects the flavours of Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Egypt as well as North Africa and especially Morocco.
After enjoying some lovely breads with dips and pickles we chose a selection of starters and main courses that we could share.
We had a wonderful selection which included Baba Ghanoush with zucchini, hummus, salmon, roasted vegetables and meat balls. Our plates were all filled with colour as there were lots of vegetables and pulses on the menu. It was all really delicious and I just love these Middle Eastern spices and flavours. On the recommendation of our wine waiter we paired our meal with a lovely white wine.
At lunchtime they have a special price menu and if you are vegan you will be pleased to know that they have a dedicated Vegan Menu too.
We thoroughly enjoyed our taste of the Middle East and Morocco in Zurich and it was fun to go to Zurich Airport to enjoy this cuisine without having to take a flight!
Please note that during FOOD Zurich from 8th – 18th September 2022, there will be Lebanese Mezze & Wine Pairing events taking place at Restaurant Babel. See here for details of the FOOD Zurich events.
