Brunch at Fischer’s Fritz Zurich
On a hot Summer’s day Zurich really comes into its own and you just can’t beat a visit to the lake – or even better a visit to a restaurant by the lake. We’ve visited Fischer’s Fritz several times for drinks and for dinner, but never for brunch. So one very hot and sunny Sunday in August we did just that – had brunch at this beautiful lakeside restaurant close to Wollishofen.
There’s a real “holiday vibe” to Fischer’s Fritz which makes you instantly relax. Situated next to the Fischer’s Fritz Camping Site this beach style restaurant has been around for over 10 years, but the laid back Summer feeling and the incredible setting make it one of the top locations on Lake Zurich.
To get to it you pass all the happy campers and head straight for the lake. In front of the restaurant (where there is a lovely first floor restaurant which is great when the weather is not so kind) there is a fabulous terrace with rows of seating stretching out towards the water. Plenty of pretty white parasols add a touch of chic and prevent you from grilling in the hot sunny temperatures.
There is plenty of seating both on the terraces and under the large tent where all the brunch goodies are laid out. Bircher müsli, cereals, yougurt, juices, brioches, croissant (and those wonderful Nussstängli!) as well as a buffet table bursting with fruit platters and cheeses.
A chef tends the egg station where hot egg dishes of your choice are conjured up to your own specifications in a matter of minutes.
For the younger ones there is a popcorn stand and a chocolate fondue with lots of fruit. You help yourself to hot coffee and juices and on top of all that there is plenty of still and sparkling water and most of all “champagne à discretion”. What more could you wish for?
If you have time afterwards, plan a dip in the lake. It’s so refreshing! Or why not hire one of the paddleboards and do some stand up paddling. If all that sounds too energetic, just relax, take in the view as you sip your champagne or drink your coffee and imagine you’re on holiday … in Zurich! 🙂
We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at Fischer’s Fritz and will definitely back. It’s the ideal place to go with a bunch of friends or family and enjoy a relaxed and chilled afternoon.
