Cheese Fun at the Raclette Factory Zurich
If you like cheese and particularly raclette you’re in luck as there is a new restaurant in the Niederdorf in Zurich that specialises in this cheesey dish. Raclette Factory is the name of the restaurant and it’s a casual restaurant which also offers take away service. It’s taken over the site of the previous Starbuck’s cafe and is situated right in the heart of the Niederdorf.
On a cold dark Winter’s evening the other day we went along to try it and really had fun! There were four people in our party and we chose from the extensive range of raclette offerings the following types: garlic raclette, truffle raclette, port wine raclette and goat’s cheese raclette.
Each of the raclettes came piping hot from the grill and was poured over new potatoes and served along with some pickles. The portions were a good size at 80 grams – not too large that you end up eating too much cheese and regretting it later, but enough to satisfy and very tasty too. If you’re feeling hungry why not go for the larger portion size of 160 grams? We all tried a little of each other’s raclette and decided that our favourites were the truffle and the port wine. Though perhaps next time we will try the classic just to check that one out too.
The service was quick and efficient and very friendly and smiley – something we always appreciate in Zurich 🙂
If cheese and raclette aren’t your cup of tea you may prefer to try the Flammkuchen and they even have salads and soups too!
To wash it all down there’s wine, beer, soft drinks or coffee, tea and of course schnapps.
So when you’re next in the Niederdorf why not pop in and give it a go?
