Dining in The Basement at the
Tschuggen Grand Hotel Arosa
Summer, winter, spring or fall, Arosa is a beautiful Alpine Resort village worth a visit. Located 2 hours drive from Zurich (2.5 hours by train), you will be surrounded by breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps amongst charming wooden houses. Arosa is the picture perfect Switzerland masterpiece.
Visiting the beautiful Tschuggen Grand Hotel is a must. The architecture is exquisite and the spa is sublime! Whether you are staying there or not, I would definitely recommend enjoying one or two of their four restaurants. I was lucky enough to indulge in their fresh, fun & unique restaurant ‘The Basement’.
The Basement offers a warm, homey and welcoming atmosphere as it is surrounded by wood and offers a few games around the tables – even hosting a bowling alley that opens at 9 in the evening! With a mix of New York, London and Berlin tastes, the vibe is extremely fun and very inviting.
I definitely recommend starting off with a cocktail whilst exploring the menu. With a variety of scrumptious burger options, steaks, salads or even fondue, it is difficult to choose! We went for the burgers!
The Chili Cheeseburger includes black bun, homemade Swiss organic beef patty, Sbrinz cheese, farmer’s bacon, colorful tomatoes, red onions, chili mayo. Every bite was absolutely fantastic!
Crispy Chicken Caesar Style is a great combination of corn bun, crispy Alpstein chicken, mini lettuce, gherkin, Sbrinz cheese shavings, Caesar dressing and radish sprouts with a side of country cuts.
Our waiter recommended Basement Magnum for dessert and it did not disappoint. With white chocolate parfait covered with milk chocolate and almond splitters, we even ordered a second round!
As our waiter told us whilst walking us out of the restaurant ‘Candy is not just for kids…’
