Gusto Ticino Pop Up

at the Widder’s “Zur Schtund” in Zurich

If you’re a fan of Italian and in prticular, Ticino Cuisine, there is a new pop up in Zurich you really must visit! It’s located at the ‘Wirtschaft Zur Schtund’ in Augustinerstrasse 28, right next to the Widder Hotel and it’s only here until 28th March!

It’s one of the new series of “pop ups” the Widder Hotel is running, featuring a different cuisine each month brought to you by top chefs from around the world. It continues every month until the end of the year, each time featuring a different cuisine.

For the month of March the theme is “Gusto Ticno” or a taste of Ticino and with Chef Mattias Roock and his team from the Castello del Sole at the helm, you’re assured of some wonderful gastronomic delights.

We were invited to the opening night and began with the most deliciously light and crispy tarte flambée together with a lovely selection of Ticino meats and cheeses.

We then moved on to a very tasty risotto followed by a delicious polenta dish with veal.

To round it off we tasted a couple of delicious desserts!

The wine which accompanied the meal was from the the same area in Ticino and went perfectly with the regional specialities. I particularly recommend this one pictured below!

Everything at the Gusto Ticino Pop Up is prepared according to the recipes from the Castello del Sole whose cuisine is renowned for its high quality and the General Manager of the hotel, Simon V. Jenny was present with his wife Gabriela on the opening evening.

So if you get the chance, when not enjoy a taste of Ticino in the heart of Zurich at the Wirtschaft Zur Schtund? You’d better be quick though as it’s only here till 28th March!
