The Valais is Switzerland’s largest wine-producing canton, accounting for around one-third of the country’s vineyards. Thanks to its sunny climate, dramatic Alpine scenery and unique terroir, the region is renowned for producing exceptional wines, including both well-known international grape varieties and distinctive local specialities such as Petite Arvine, Cornalin, Humagne Rouge and Amigne. What Makes Tavolata So Special?
Community spirit
Sit alongside locals, tourists and families, all brought together by the simple joys of good company, good food, fine wine and spectacular scenery. The shared-table concept creates a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that encourages conversation and new friendships.
Culinary variety
Every Tavolata offers a distinctive dining theme: from comforting raclette or fondue to hearty meat dishes, buffet spreads, inspirational tasting menus or vegetarian meals. Each event has its own character, making it easy to enjoy more than one Tavolata throughout the month.
Regional authenticity
Hosted by Valais wine cellars and partner establishments, each experience features local wines, seasonal produce and the flavours of the region. Many of the ingredients are sourced locally, allowing visitors to discover authentic Valais cuisine alongside wines produced only a short distance from where they are served.
Stunning vineyard locations
Many Tavolata events take place among the vineyards themselves, offering spectacular views of the Alps and surrounding countryside. Dining outdoors during the warm summer evenings is all part of what makes these events so memorable.

When & Where?
Tavolatas are scheduled throughout August.
These pop-up dinners take place across Unterwallis, Mittelwallis, Oberwallis and even in Zurich where there is the Transhelvetica Tavolata in Wasserwerkstrasse 93 on 28th and 29th August.
