Paradise – Third Chez Vrony Pop Up in Zurich
For the third time, the Widder Hotel is bringing the mountain feel of Zermatt to Zurich with its “Chez Vrony” pop up.
Paradise Chez Vrony is taking place from 2nd October to 31st December at the cosy little “Stübli” in the Wirtschaft zur Schtund in Augustinergasse in the heart of Zurich. With pretty shades of teal and white, bedecked with sheepskins and fir cones, there is definitely a touch of the mountains in this little corner of Zurich.
Vrony and Max Cotting-Julen have filled this little restaurant full of mountain charm and the menu offers fondue, Raclette as well as bowls and fusion dishes for those who prefer something a little different.
To begin with we were presented with a little surprise “Knödel” amuse bouche from the kitchen which was served with a really lovely garnish of mixed vegetables.
Sharing Platter
Our starter was a sharing platter featuring a delicious mix of olives, pitta bread, hummus, cream cheese, dried ham from Valais and Zermatt paradise sausage. We also had some lovely carrot and ginger soup.
Coupled with a glass of Ruinart champagne, it made for the perfect starter.
Cheese Fondue
The “Paradise” cheese fondue came to the table bubbling away in its traditional Caquelon and was served along with bread, boiled potatoes and pickles and we washed it down with a glass of Heida wine.
The fondue was delicious and we really enjoyed the cosy atmosphere inside the Zermatt styled Wirtschaft zur Schtund. Paradise was the perfect place to enjoy our first fondue of the season and it was so good I’m sure we will be back there for more!
Desserts
If you have room, there are also desserts available – The Paradise “Schmarrn” (a kind of fried pancake in pieces) with a variety of fruit toppings and ice cream or the Paradise fruit tart with cream.
