Swiss Meat Pop Up Restaurant at the Parkhuus

For all you meat-eaters out there in Zurich there is one pop-up restaurant that you really shouldn’t miss!  It opened on the 3rd October and it’s all about MEAT!  It’s called Hunger’ER and it’s located in the Parkhuus Restaurant at the Park Hyatt Zurich. NewInZurich were lucky enough to be invited to the opening party and we had a great time exploring the vast array of delicacies on offer.

It’s a new departure for a hotel like the Park Hyatt to host a pop-up restaurant but with chef Frank Widmer, who has teamed up with Ernst Brönnimann, a passionate butcher from Jona, together with new manager Armin Waldvogel, this looks set to be the new “go to restaurant” for the Winter season.

Offering Swiss meat in various guises,  it really is a total “mouth to tail” story. We saw sausages being made in front of our eyes (the art of plaiting them is a real skill) and we tasted fabulous Swiss steak as well as ox heart, chicken, cold cuts and for the vegetarians there was even tofu on offer! We loved the food and the atmosphere was really fun. The “Cremeschnitte” looked amazing – but sadly there was no room. Next time maybe!

There is lots of choice and they even create a different Bratwurst every day! It’s worth noting too that all the meat is 100% Swiss, seasonal and sustainable. Even the vegetables, wine and other beverages are Swiss and the game comes from deer from the forest in Jona.

Hung’ER will only be open for three months – until the end of December – so do pop by and take a look. As well as the Restaurant there is also a butchers shop which also sells sauces, spices and accessories too.

So why not go and “Meat the Unexpected” as their logo goes and surprise yourself!

Lunch: Monday to Friday from 12 noon to 2:30pm
Dinner: Every evening from 6pm to 10.30pm
