Three of the Swiss Deluxe Hotels – The Dolder Grand, Zurich, The Bellevue Palace in Bern and Le Richemond Geneva will host Gala Dinners where 20 of the best Chefs from Ticino will be cooking some amazing dishes.
NewInZurich was invited to attend the Sapori Ticino Gala Dinner at the Bellevue Palace Bern. On arrival we were welcomed with an apéro in the wonderful Art Nouveau lobby and an assortment of amuse bouches washed down with sparkling wine Bellavista Alma Cuvée Brut. Switzerland’s number one DJ Antoine was also present at the event and the Gala dinner took place in the hotel’s wonderful Banquet Room.
After speeches by Dany Stauffacher, CEO & Founder of Sapori Ticino, Siro Barino, CEO Swiss Deluxe Hotels, the four members of Quattromani, Urs Bührer the hotel general manager, and Fabio Regazzi (Nationalrat CVP Ticino), the feast began.
The menu had been put together by Chefs Andrea Bertarini of the Conca Belle, Vacalo, Egidio Iadonisi of Swiss Diamond Hotel, Vico Morcote and Frank Oerthle of Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola, Lugano.
To begin with we had crispy dough balls with rucola and fresh cheese by Andrea Bertarini, accompanied by San Zeno Bianco 2015 Ticino DOC Tamborini white wine.
It was followed by a beautiful dish with prawns, caviar and burrata salad by Egidio Iadonisi, and was accompanied by Donnay 2015 Ticino DOC Brivio. It looked so beautiful with the flower decoration and had a very delicate flavour.
Next we were served a delicious Rissoto Grand Riserva Gallo with “Bosco di Palli” asparagus, cocoa beans and lemon by Andrea Bertarini and to follow we had pork in beer with a creamy Chorizo Sauce and smoked potato foam by Frank Oerthle.
After dinner we had the chance to meet all three chefs and take some photos.
Artist Luca La Marca, who paints during live events, has created a painting for the cover of the 2017 Sapori Ticino magazine and it was on display during the evening.
