The Grand Meatery Pop Up at The Dolder Grand
There’s a great new pop up restaurant in Zurich which is on now until 28th October 2023. It’s a haven for meat-lovers and is called “The Grand Meatery”. The motto is “Darling, where is the beef?” and this really is THE place to go if you love your meat! We went there the other day and had one of the most wonderful dining experiences from start to finish.
The focus is on high-quality meats, and it is the brainchild of Michelin-starred Chef Heiko Nieder. After successfully leading ventures such as “Lobster Club”, “Krug-Chalet”, and “Dolder-Lodge”, The Grand Meatery offers a menu dedicated to impeccably cooked, rich, and flavoursome meat dishes. The pop-up is a stroke of culinary brilliance, showcasing a variety of meat dishes ranging from the subtle beef tea paired with caviar and crème fraîche, to the carpaccio roll, accentuated with foie gras and black truffle.
The menu features prime cuts like Ribeye, Entrecôte, and Filet, sourced from Holzen Fleisch in Ennetbürgen, Nidwalden, and Dieter Meier’s Ojo de Agua in Argentina. Additionally, you can enjoy the exquisite Kagoshima Wagyu from Japan, known for its unparallelled quality. There really are so many great meat dishes which makes it the perfect pop up for meat aficionados.
You can also fine unique dishes such as Wagyu Meatballs with Chili and Coriander, Beef Ribs with Sauerkraut Mayonnaise and Jalapeño, and Tartare with Oysters, Caviar, and Beetroot. There are lots of delectable side dishes and starters and I absolutely loved the beetroot and mango salad which accompanies the beef tartare. Every dish we tried was absolutely wonderful.
We enjoyed excellent service throughout by Pablo, who incidentally prepares the beef tartare directly at your table!
If you have room for a dessert they are not just delicious – but works of art too!
However, as with all pop ups you will need to be quick as it is only open Thursday to Sunday from 6pm until 28th October. So do make your reservation as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
