The Lobster Club Summer Pop Up at the Dolder Grand
There’s a brand new Pop-Up in town and it’s one you will really want to visit! The Lobster Club is the Summer Pop Up at the beautiful Dolder Grand offering a wonderful variety of summery dishes on the delightful terrace of the Dolder Bar. With sweeping views over the city below, there is always a good reason to visit the Dolder Grand – and right now it is to try out the Lobster Club!
Indoor & Outdoor Seating & Artwork by Boogie
There is seating both inside and out and as you enter you will notice the fabulous art work by Swiss German artist Boogie.
The Dolder Grand is well known for its art collection and its artistic associations (you might have seen the recent Giant Easter egg by Finnish Artist Jani Leinonen) and the Lobster Club’s art work is striking and fun.
The collection features a lobster, oysters and an Octopus. Who knows, maybe there will be an oyster pop up and an Octopus pop up to follow!
Heiko Nieder’s Pop Up Perfect For Summer
Top Chef Heiko Nieder’s delicious Lobster Pop Up is taking place every Thursday to Saturday and additionally on Sundays from 12 noon till 2pm. Always creating new ideas and concepts, Heiko’s latest one is fresh and perfect for summer. And if you don’t like lobster, there are lots of other dishes in the menu too!
Selection of Mini Starters
We sat out on the terrace and began with a selection of mini starters which included Gillardeau Wasa Khaan oysters, curry lobster sausage, macaron with lobster and vadouvan, omelette rolls with avocado and wasabi and octopus ceviche.
Next we tried the delightful Snow Crab Cocktail which contains, King Crab with sea trout roe, buttermilk, jalapeno and apple.
Served in a delightful cocktail glass it looked and tasted fresh and summery.
We also tried the wild water shrimps with mango, sea greens and curry.
It was so colourful and beautifully delicious with the fruit and the seafood paired so well together.
There is an intermediate course of tagliolini with champagne, small cubes of smoked sturgeon and caviar which is great for pasta lovers .
And the Dolder Grand Steak tartare is always very special. This dish which was served on a bed of beetroot was made in front of us at a little station pulled up to our table by our lovely waiter Pablo.
Lobster 5 Ways at the Lobster Club
Of course the lobster is the main deal and there are 5 different variations to choose from. We had it served with lemon butter and tarragon (above) and with chorizo, saffron and basil. My favourite was the tarragon with lemon butter but both were superb! Also it was all prepared and ready for you to eat – so no fighting with lobster claws and difficult to use equipment! Other options you can choose from include lobster with white asparagus, green curry, hollandaise and caviar or “Lobster Emperor”
As a finale we had Chocolate cake with African elephant tree fruit ice cream and strawberries with yuzu pepper and champagne rosé.
At the Lobster Club, Heiko Nieder’s team serves a variety of dishes which are all beautifully executed and as well as tasting delicious they are all works of art. So do make sure to reserve your table at the lovely Lobster Club Summer Pop Up and enjoy a delicious culinary experience!
