Vitality Cuisine at the Restaurant Verbena Waldhotel Bürgenstock
The Bürgenstock Resort is one of the most sought after destinations in Switzerland with breathtaking views over the Vierwaldstätersee and scenic Swiss countryside.
The resort is home to three hotels, the Bürgenstock, The Palace Hotel and the Waldhotel, as well as seven restaurants and three bars and lounges.
Vitality Cuisine at Restaurant Verbena with Healthy, Fresh, Local Produce
The Restaurant Verbena is located in the the Waldhotel Bürgenstock and we were recently lucky enough to be invited to experience their new Vitality Cuisine menu. The Waldhotel is very much the hotel at the Bürgenstock Resort which focuses on health and well-being as well as the healing power of nature.
It is equipped with stunning pools and wellness facilities, the Waldtique Shop and Spa where you can enjoy facials by Swissline and Skinceuticals as well as other treatments, and therapies by world class medical experts.
It it only natural that the cuisine at its Restaurant Verbena reflects the emphasis on healthy living and good nutrition, but naturally, in the most delicious way!
Apéro with Ruinart Champagne
We began the evening with a brief introduction to the chefs in the library and a delicious Apéro with a glass of Ruinart champagne.
It was then time to take our seats in the beautiful Verbena Restaurant with stunning views over the beautiful Swiss countryside.
The Restaurant Verbena is light and bright and such a wonderful dining location and is open to both residents and non-residents of the hotel and resort.

We were lucky enough to have the “holy trinity” of chefs cooking for us the evening we were there. Mike Wehrle from the Bürgenstock (and Culinary Director of the Bürgenstock Group) along with Lorenz Hoja from the Schweizerhof Berne and Ludovic Douteau from the Hotel Royal Savoy Lausanne. Together the three chefs created a fabulous Vitality Cuisine Menus which was both a healthy and exquisite dining experience.
Vitality Cuisine uses fresh, wild and locally sourced ingredients and elevates them into delicious dishes. The kitchen uses herbs from the Bürgenstock gardens, fish from Alpine lakes, and delicious seasonal produce.
The menu uses lots of fresh plants, vegetables and fruits and if you are following a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, the ingredients are adapted accordingly.
Mike Wehrle, Lorenz Hoja and Ludovic Douteau each took turns to explain the individual dishes.
We were served the most delicious wines to accompany the Vitality Cuisine Dinner.

In the Verbena Restaurant you can find both Vitality Cuisine as well as their other culinary concept, Colour Cuisine.
Getting To The Verbena Restaurant Bürgenstock Resort Lucerne
Getting to the hotel is a wonderful experience (more to come in a separate blogpost). You take a boat from Lucerne and a funicular from the lakeside of the picturesque Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne) to get to this stunning clifftop resort.
