Denon PerL Earbuds – A New Innovationin Hearing Technology!
Denon recently announced the release of their innovative Denon PerLTM and PerL ProTM True Wireless (TWS) Earbuds. Known for their excellence in sound engineering for over a century, Denon’s latest offering is set to transform the way we experience personal audio. So I was really intrigued when I was invited to an event in Zurich where I was able to test the headphones out for myself – and to find out if it is all hype – or if this new innovation really does make a difference!
Denon PerL Earbuds Use Masimo AATTM – Adaptive Acoustic TechnologyTM
The Denon PerL earbuds use the unique “Masimo AATTM” (Adaptive Acoustic TechnologyTM). This technology enables users to create a personal audio profile, based on the their own ears which is desgined to significantly enhance headphone sound quality. The concept behind the PerL series is simple. Your ear is measured so that music and sound can be tailored exactly to your individual hearing. A bit like having spectacles fitted for you eyes.
The Denon PerL and PerL Pro Address Individual Hearing Sensitivities
Hearing sensitivity varies from person to person as we learnt in a presentation by Roland Krüger who showed us the workings of the inner ear and how sound is perceived inside the ear. The Denon PerL and PerL Pro models address this by employing Masimo’s proprietary technology which measures otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) generated by the inner ear in response to a series of tones. These emissions reflect each person’s distinct hearing sensitivity at different frequencies.
A Personal Hearing Profile Is Created
With all this data, an AI-powered app then creates a personal hearing profile. This gives you a listening experience with unmatched depth, detail, and clarity, all while maintaining Denon’s signature vibrant and expansive sound.
Testing The Difference with Denon PerL Pro Earbuds
After being given a pair of Denon PerL Pro earbuds to test we were each given instructions on how to set it up with the Denon app on our mobile phones. Once we had done the set up we were then led in a group of 4 to a quiet room where we could complete the set up and test the sound. After the App has “measured” your ears, you then get a personalized setting. What I really liked was that it then gave you the opportunity to compare the “regular setting” which is what most people hear and your personalised setting. I was really amazed! The personalised setting for me was so different – I could hear another level of clarity and it was so much better.
Denon PerL Pro Earbuds deliver a Streaming Experience
The Denon PerL Pro model takes wireless sound quality to new heights. Unlike standard Bluetooth® earbuds that compress audio, the PerL Pro delivers a streaming experience akin to CD listening. This feature allows for high-fidelity streaming with exceptional audio fidelity. The Denon PerL Pro offers an immersive surround sound effect with a comfortable earbud design.
Noise Cancellation + Social Mode
Both the PerL and PerL Pro models come equipped with active noise cancellation and a transparent ‘social mode’, giving users the choice to either immerse themselves in their music or stay aware of their surroundings. The PerL Pro, in particular, boasts eight microphones (compared to four in the PerL model) and advanced noise cancellation that adapts to environmental noise and the fit of the earbuds.
Denon PerL Earbuds Carry Case
The Denon PerL headphones come with a cute little carrying case which enables you to put the right earbud into the righthand slot and the left into the lefthand slot so that you always know which one is which. It also has a place for a charging cable and various adaptors to make sure that you get the correct fit for your ears. I must say I found it tricky to get the earbuds in when I first tried but once I had got the knack, it was fine.
The Denon Headphones App on iOS and Android
You can us the Denon Headphones app, available for iOS and Android to further personalize your experience. It not only displays your unique hearing profile but also allows you to customize features like selective noise cancellation, social mode, and on-earbud touch controls for a range of functions.
