If you’re on the lookout for great white wines to enjoy this summer in Switzerland, you’ll want to check out the latest seasonal releases from HENRI Wines. I recently had the chance to taste them both at the stylish Bar Otro in Zurich, and I can honestly say these two newcomers are definitely worth tasting.
HENRI has introduced two fresh 2024 vintages: a Räuschling from Zurich and a Petite Arvine from Valais. Each one captures the essence of its terroir — bright, elegant, and full of character — but my personal favourite? The Räuschling, with its zesty citrus profile and beautiful minerality. And it comes from Zurich too!!!!
Räuschling AOC Zürich – Fresh, Floral & Local
Made from a rare, indigenous grape that’s 100% Zurich-born, this Räuschling is a real treasure of the local wine scene. Light, crisp, and refreshingly dry, it opens with notes of freshly squeezed lemon, followed by hints of white flowers. On the palate, it’s lively and vibrant, with a clean mineral finish that makes it a perfect aperitif or a brilliant match for light dishes like grilled fish, sushi, or asparagus. We tasted it with a variety of canapés and it was a perfect match but I would also enjoy drinking it on a picnic or with fish and chicken dishes.
The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve their purity and freshness. Best served chilled at 10–12°C, this is your go-to wine for terrace season in Zurich!
Petite Arvine AOC Valais – Exotic, Elegant & Full of Life
From the sun-drenched vineyards of Valais comes the Petite Arvine, often referred to as the queen of Valais varietals. HENRI’s version bursts with personality — expect aromas of pink grapefruit, rhubarb, and exotic fruits. There’s a touch of creaminess to the texture, balanced beautifully by the wine’s vivid acidity.
It’s a versatile wine that pairs wonderfully with soft cheeses, seafood, and even spicy dishes. Like the Räuschling, it’s made with hand-harvested grapes and aged in stainless steel to retain its bright, fruit-driven profile.
