Takashi Murakami Known for His Superflat & Smiling flower Creations
Takashi Murakami is best known for his “superflat” creations as well as his trademark “smiling flower” and his psychedelic colour palate. He is renowned for “blurring the lines” between fine art and commerce, and is no stranger to collaborations. He has previously worked with Comme des Garçons, Visvim and Louis Vuitton fashion labels, musicians Kanye West and Billie Eilish, as well as brands such as Supreme, Billionaire Boys Club and Vans. However, Takashi discussed the collaboration with Hublot in glowing terms and said that once he had seen the impressive Swiss horloger’s watch making facility he was so impressed that he was convinced to go ahead with the collaboration. Takashi declared during the presentation that he could be a difficult man and was genuinely surprised at how easy the collaboration had been, which is very refreshing to year from such an acclaimed artist.

The Classic Fusion Murakami All Black
The Classic Fusion Murakami All Black watch is indeed inspired by a flower. However this flower is very special. Not only are the petals encrusted with diamonds, but they are free-spinning too, bringing both animation and art together in one outstanding timepiece.
The watch as its name implies is all black but there is plenty of texture, movement and detail. It is set with an impressive 456 black diamonds, with an additional 107 black diamonds on the watch’s face and equipped with a Unico movement.
The watch is a limited edition and only 200 pieces will be produced. The recommended retail price in Switzerland is CHF 25,900. You can see the watch here.
