Keep Your Champagne Sparkling
Who doesn’t love a good glass of champagne or sparkling wine? But what happens when you’ve opened a bottle and you just don’t finish it in one evening? You’re about to put it in the fridge and it looks as if there are only one or two glasses left …
a) decide it won’t keep so you might as well finish it off?
b) put it in the fridge anyway and hope it will be ok tomorrow even if it is a bit flat?
c) seal it with “Zzysh” and the next glass will taste just as good as the very first sip?
The other day Mövenpick kindly sent me a Zzysh to test out for myself along with a bottle of their very nice “Bacio d’Oro” prosecco. Unfortunately, as we had friends round that night, we inadvertently managed to polish off the bottle without any being left! So it fell to a later opportunity to put the Zzysh to the test and I can confirm that it worked very well.
How it Works
You get two pieces of equipment with the Zzysh – a white circular piece of plastic which is a stopper which you place over the bottle top to seal it, and a small cylinder.
You then take the cylindricaly shaped hand piece and press it down directly over the whole in the middle of the stopper for 3 to 4 seconds. You will then hear a “zzysh” sound as the the gas goes into the bottle. It’s as simple as that!
Amazingly your champagne is now safe from oxidation for weeks and when you next open the bottle it will taste exactly as it did when you opened it for the first time! It’s the Zzysh cartridges which enable the champagne to be preserved and it’s ideal when you want to savour an expensive bottle over a few days or even weeks.
You can use the Zzysh not just for champagne but for all forms of sparkling wine too.
The Zzysh is a Swiss invention and the idea for it was conceived by the inventor Manfred Jüni, in Murten. Its not cheap, but then neither is good champagne or sparkling wine – so if you think how much good wine you will be preserving with this method, it’s bound to cost in over the long run.
I think it’s a handy gadget which is really easy to use and doesn’t require any effort to us. It is ideal if you love champagne and simply fancy a glass or if you just want to have a more moderate approach to drinking. I will definitely be using it!
The Zzysh is proving very popular and is now sold all over the world and you may be interested to know that they also make a version of Zzysh for normal wine too.
CHF 99.90 for the kit (above) to get you started.
Where to buy?
