Review of The FOREO LUNA 3 Facial Cleansing Device
Although I love the idea of electric facial cleansing brushes, I’ve always worried that they were too harsh and abrasive for my skin so after using for a while I have always ended giving up. So when I was given a FOREO LUNA 3 to review I was really keen to see how it would make my face feel after daily use.
One of the reasons I was interested in the LUNA 3 was because not only does it cleanse your face on one side, but unlike any of the previous FOREO models, this one also has an extra function. On the other side it has a smoother grooved area which is perfect for massaging in your serum and face creams.
Daily Cleansing
From a hygiene point of view the FOREO LUNA 3 has some great advantages. Unlike cleansing brushes which need to be cleaned and replaced regularly to prevent them becoming a breeding ground for bacteria, the FOREO LUNA 3 is made of medical grade silicone which is naturally resistant to bacteria. Apparently this makes it up to 35 times more hygienic than the usual cleansing brushes. The sonic technology powers the silicone bristles helping it gently scrub away dirt and grime with 8,000 pulsations per minute. It takes just one minute for the program to run and you run it from the app on your phone.
Three Versions of LUNA 3 According To Skin Type
There are 3 versions of the FOREO LUNA 3 – the pink one for normal skin, the violet one for sensitive skin and the blue one for combination skin. This ultra portable little device has 16 different power levels and a single charge lasts for approximately 650 charges.
How To Use FOREO LUNA 3
There are two sides to the device and two functions:
Cleansing Function
First of all, download the FOREO App and connect your LUNA 3 (you also need to unlock the LUNA 3 via the App before its first use).
You then simply glide the LUNA 3 in a circular motions all over your face (you can follow the diagram on the App) and the timer will automatically switch off at the end of your session.
Finally, rinse the device and apply your usual skincare.
Massage Function
You can then dab your serum and / or face cream to your face and choose from the following massage functions using the App and massage using the contoured side of the brush.
The Eyes on the Prize massage is to firm the eye area and lasts 2 minutes.
The Nothing but Neck massage concentrates on firming the neck and décolleté area with a two-minutes massage.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Much more than a cleansing tool, the LUNA 3 with its massage function is really 2 devices in one.
- I really enjoyed the cleansing function and my skin felt really fresh and bright afterwards.
- I like the choice of massage programs to target distance areas of your face.
- Very portable
- Made of Medical Grade silicone it’s very hygienic
- Can be used with your own cleansers and serums
- Battery life is extremely good
Cons
- Unlocking it and using it for the first time with the App can be a little fiddly.
- The price – there’s no getting away from it the FOREO LUNA 3 is an expensive device at around CHF 239. (See price list here.)
- The power cable is non standard so as you will only need it very infrequently you will need to keep it in a VERY safe place!
In Conclusion
All in all I am really happy with the FOREO LUNA 3 and my skin feels exceptionally well cleansed and fresh afterwards. I especially like the fact that it is multi-function with the choice of facial massages too. It’s definitely not inexpensive, but ultimately it can be seen as an investment in your skin.
