If you’re celebrating New Year in Zurich for 2025/2026, you’ll find plenty of exciting activities taking place all across the city. Zurich’s official New Year’s Eve celebration is called “Silvesterzauber“. It’s a huge lakeside festival attracting visitors from across Switzerland and around the world. Unlike many cities where fireworks launch exactly at midnight, Zurich fires its New Year fireworks at 00:20, creating extra suspense before the sky bursts into colour. You can enjoy the event for free around the lake basin or book a ticketed VIP area for a premium view complete with food and drinks. Street-food vendors, bars and music zones make the whole area festive from afternoon through to the early hours.
Silvesterzauber Zurich 2025/2026 – Programme Overview
From 14:00 – 03:00 the Zurich lake basin comes alive with festivities, food stalls and international cuisine offering everything from mulled wine to gourmet snacks.
From 14:00 – 18:00 the Happy Kids zone at the Magic Lake area provides fun and games for children while parents enjoy drinks lakeside.
From 20:00 – 00:19 Zurich’s party zones take over with Bravo hits, 80s and 90s classics and electronic beats.
At 23:40 church bells across Zurich ring out the old year, followed by the traditional 10-second countdown at 23:59.
At 00:19 the lakeside lights are switched off to prepare for the fireworks.
From 00:20 – 00:35 the spectacular Zurich New Year fireworks take place over Lake Zurich, choreographed by Swiss pyrotechnics specialists Hirt & Co., known for their award-winning firework shows.
From 00:35 – 02:30 music continues in bars and festival zones before the official event ends at 03:00.
At 04:00 the last late-night public transport connections depart.

VIP Option: Magic Lake Zone
For a premium New Year’s Eve experience in Zurich, the Magic Lake Zone offers heated dance floors, stylish lounges, top DJs, street food and themed spaces. Drinks by the glass are included all evening.
